Important Times for Friends of All Saints

This past weekend I made a trip down to San Antonio, and currently I am making my way up to Nashville. Both trips are made with much joy in celebrating the consecration of two new Bishops in the Anglican Mission in America. These new Bishops will help to encourage and expand our apostolic works in America and abroad. The new Bishops are +Matt Kessler and Dan+ Scott, both of whom are friends of many at All Saints Dallas.

I have known +Matt for more than twenty years and served with him at St. Andrew's in Little Rock. Over the years I have seen the way that apostolic gifts have developed in +Matt and the way he is intentional about investing in discipleship, healthy leaders, and new works for the church.

The consecration ceremony was a beautiful time of worship and there were many meaningful moments, beginning with the presence of so many dear friends. Several of our Mission Partners traveled here for +Matt’s consecration. It is always such a gift to be with Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini, Bishop Aaron Kijanjali, Bishop Sospeter Ndenza, Bishop Edmund Ahmoah, and Bishop William Mugenyi. Bishop Silas Ng traveled from Anglican Mission Canada as well as our AMiA Bishops, Bishop Carl Buffington, Bishop Gerry Schnackenberg, and Bishop Sandy Greene and many AMiA priests from around the U.S. to witness this special day.

During the ceremony, the church leaders who first gave +Matt a Bible when he was in Youth Group were there to present the same Bible to him as he stepped into this new role. +Matt asked Bishop Todd Atkinson from Via Apostolica in Canada to preach for the occasion, and he gave a powerful reminder to us from 1 Corinthians 4, that we all must be servants, be last, be humble, as we follow Christ.

Please continue to keep +Matt and his wife, Amanda, his family, and his ministry at Grace Northridge in San Antonio in your prayers and join me in thanking God for all He is doing in the Anglican Mission.

We also look forward to this Sunday, May 14, when Dan+ Scott of Christ Church Nashville will be consecrated a Bishop to serve in mission for the AMiA. I ask for your prayers for Dan+ and his wife, Trish, and all those who will be traveling to attend and participate in these services in Nashville.

+Philip
